Deal values and totals

Where a card's value comes from, how to set it yourself, and how the column and board totals are added up.

Every card on the pipeline can carry a value: what that person is worth to you. The values add up to a total for each stage and a total "in play" for the whole board, so you can see what is waiting to be won.

Before you start

  • Nothing. Most values are worked out for you. You only type one in for leads that didn't come through a funnel, such as a phone enquiry.

Steps

Read a value

  1. Open Contacts › Pipeline.
  2. Look at the bottom right of a card. A plain amount such as $320 is money the person has actually paid. An amount with ~ in front, such as ~$450, is an estimate. Hover over it to see Actual revenue or Estimated value.

Set a value yourself

  1. When adding a contact by hand, type the amount in Value.
  2. For an existing contact, open them in Conversations, choose Deal in the panel on the right, type the amount in Expected value and press Enter.

Read the totals

  1. Each column header shows its number of leads and the sum of their values, for example 6 leads · $2,700.
  2. The line at the top of the board shows the whole board, for example $6,300 in play. It leaves out the Lost stage.

What happens next

A card's value is chosen in this order:

  1. Money the person has actually paid you (paid or partly refunded orders).
  2. Otherwise, the value you typed.
  3. Otherwise, the price of the main product on the funnel they came through.
  4. Otherwise, the offer price set on that funnel.

So as soon as someone pays, their estimate is replaced by what they really spent. Cards with no value count as nothing in the totals and show no amount.

For agencies

Open the client first (Sub-accounts › Open). Each client's board adds up that client's contacts only.

Troubleshooting

A card shows no value. Nothing has been paid, no value was typed, and the person didn't come through a funnel with a price. Set one in Conversations › Deal › Expected value.

The value changed after the customer paid. Paid money replaces the estimate. A $450 estimate becomes $380 if that is what they actually spent.

The totals went down when I searched. Totals add up the cards on screen. Press Clear to count everyone again.

Amounts show in dollars, but I sell in pounds. The board shows values with a dollar sign. The numbers are the amounts you entered or were paid; only the sign differs.

The Lost column has a total, but it isn't in "in play". That is on purpose. Lost leads are not money you are still working for.
