Create plans to sell to your clients
Set up the plans you sell under your own name, with your price, a free trial, included credit and AI, a snapshot built on signup, and a sale link clients pay you through.
On the Resell plan you sell the app as your own product. Each plan you create has your name and your price, sits on top of one of the underlying tiers, and is paid for through your own Stripe. The difference between your price and what the tier costs you is yours.
Before you start
- The Resell plan.
- Your Stripe account connected. Until it is, Plans & pricing shows the Stripe card instead, because the products and prices are created in your own Stripe.
- An idea of your price. Example for Northwind Studio: "Studio Starter", $149 a month, on the Launch tier.
Steps
- Open SaaS configurator. It opens on Plans & pricing.
- Press Add plan.
- Type a Plan name your clients will recognise and, if you like, a Description they will see.
- Under What your client gets, choose the tier underneath. Each option shows what it costs you a month.
- Type Your price a month. Optionally type a Yearly price; leave it empty for monthly only.
- Set a Free trial in days (0 to 90). The client is not charged until it ends.
- Tick Sell in public to give the plan a permanent sale link anyone can buy from. Leave it off if only clients you send a link to should subscribe.
- Optionally set Complimentary credit, put in the client's wallet when they pay, and AI included, an amount of AI a month you cover before the client pays anything.
- Under Snapshot built on signup, search for a trade and pick it if new clients on this plan should get that business built the moment they pay. Leave it empty for a blank account.
- If you run more than one brand, choose the Brand the plan belongs to.
- Read the line that says what you pay, what your client pays and what you keep, then press Create plan. A message says "Plan created."
What happens next
The plan appears under Plans you sell with its price, what you keep, the tier it is based on, the trial and how many clients are on it.
- Public link copies the plan's sale link (only for public plans). The sale page shows your logo, the plan and its price, asks for the business name, the person's name and email, and takes them to payment, or to Start … free trial. Afterwards they get an email to set their password.
- Link for a client opens Put a client on a plan: choose an existing client, press Create link and send it. That link works once and expires after 24 hours.
- Edit changes the plan. Once a plan has clients, what they get cannot be changed.
- Archive stops offering the plan. Existing clients keep their subscription.
Rules around the plans (failed payments, upgrades, approvals, the welcome email and tax) are on the other tabs of the configurator.
For white-label agencies
The sale link opens on your own app domain once it is live, and the sale page carries your logo and name. A plan tied to a brand shows that brand's name in your list, and a client who upgrades by themselves is offered your plans on the same brand.
Troubleshooting
"That is below what this tier costs you ($…)." Your price is lower than the tier underneath. Raise the price, or choose a smaller tier.
"That yearly price is below what a year of this tier costs you ($…)." Raise the yearly price to at least twelve months of the tier's cost.
"Selling your own plans needs the Agency plan." Selling plans is part of the Resell plan. Your clients can still be created and managed on your current plan.
"Connect Stripe before publishing a plan". Connect Stripe under Settings › Payments first.
The Public link button is missing. The plan is not marked Sell in public, or it is archived.
A client says the checkout link does not work. Links for a client work once and last 24 hours. Press Link for a client again and send the new one.
