Connected apps and the API (coming soon)
Connecting AI assistants and your own software to your account is on the way; here is what exists today and where the developer guide is.
Coming soon. There is no Connected apps page, no API keys and no webhook subscriptions in the app yet. This article says what is planned, what you can already do today, and where developers can read the specification.
Before you start
- Nothing to set up yet. If you are planning an integration, read the developer guide first.
Steps
Read the developer guide
- Open the developer guide.
- Start with the quick start for your level: business owner, team member, agency, white-label agency, or client of an agency.
- Read Build status in the guide. It lists what exists and what each phase will deliver.
The developer guide is a specification: it describes how connecting will work when it is released. Until then, the addresses it describes do not answer.
Send contacts to another tool today
You can already pass a contact to another tool, such as Zapier or Make, from a sequence:
- Open the sequence you want to use.
- Add the step Send to a webhook ("Post the contact to an address of yours — Zapier, Make, your own.").
- In Post to, paste the web address your other tool gave you, starting with
https://. - Save your changes. Each contact who reaches that step is sent to the address, with their id, name and email, the sequence and the step number.
Connect your other accounts today
These connections already live in the app, each in its own place:
- Stripe, to take payments: Settings › Payments.
- Social and ad accounts: Marketing › Social and Marketing › Ads.
- Your own web address: Sites › Domains.
- Your own email domain: Settings › Channels › Sending domain.
What happens next
When connected apps are released, owners and admins will manage them from the app, and this article will be replaced with the steps. The developer guide describes the plan: connecting AI assistants and your own software to your account with a token or by signing in, with your team roles deciding what each connection may do.
For agencies
The developer guide covers agencies and white-label agencies, including connecting to client accounts and offering connections under your own brand. None of it is live yet.
For clients of an agency
When this arrives, your agency decides whether it is available on your plan.
Troubleshooting
I was asked for an API key and can't find one. There are no API keys in the app yet. If a third-party tool asks for one, it cannot connect to your account directly for now. Use the Send to a webhook step to send contacts out instead.
An address from the developer guide returns an error. The API is not live yet. The guide's Build status page says which parts are being built.
My webhook step isn't sending.
Check that the Post to address starts with https:// and is the exact address your other tool gave you. The step shows a message under the field if the address is not usable.
