Build my business

Build my business makes the pieces a business needs online in one go: the website, a funnel, a blog and a contact form, and for your kind of business the booking diary and the automations that go with it. If you sell things, you also get a shop and a customer login. Everything is written for your trade and shares one look, and all of it can be edited like anything you make by hand.

Before you start

• Your trade, and a sentence or two about what you do and who for.
• Your website address, or one you like, if you want the layout and feel taken from it. Your own words are always written fresh.

Steps

1. In the sidebar, press Build my business.
2. Under What kind of business is it?, start typing your trade, for example "dentist" or "candle", and pick the closest match from the list.
3. Under What do you sell?, tick everything that applies: Nothing yet, A service, Physical products, Digital files, An online course or A membership. The line underneath tells you whether you will get a shop and a customer login.
4. Under Your website, or one you like, paste an address if you have one. It is optional.
5. Under Tell us about the business, say what you do, who for, and what makes you different. For example: "Hand-poured soy candles, made in small batches in Bristol, with refills posted in plastic-free packaging."
6. Press Build my business. The progress page opens.
7. Watch each piece being made, for example "Building the website" and "Starting your blog", with a count such as "6 of 16". You can close the tab; come back to the same link and it carries on where it stopped.
8. When it says built, read the list of what needs you, then open each piece with its open in link.

What happens next

• The website, funnel, blog, form and store appear under Sites, the booking diary under Calendars, and the automations under Automations.
• Anything you sell is added switched off, as a place to fill in: a course waits for its lessons, a membership for what it unlocks.
• A store stays hidden until your first product is ready to sell.
• Reviews are left empty. Add your real ones; none are invented. See Publish reviews and reply to them.
• The last step of the build, "Putting it live", publishes the site on your free address.

Steps: change it with a sentence

1. When the build has stopped, find Not quite right? on the progress page.
2. Say what should be different, for example "Lead with emergency callouts — that is most of our work, not installations."
3. Press Rewrite the pages. The pages are rewritten; your pictures, your products and anything you have edited by hand stay as they are.

For agencies

Run it inside a client with Sub-accounts › Open to build that client's business in their own account.

Troubleshooting

"Choose what kind of business this is first." Pick a trade from the list under What kind of business is it?. Typing alone is not enough.

"Nothing matches" when I type my trade. Try a broader word, such as "shop" or "clinic".

The build says "unfinished". One or more steps did not finish. They are listed under what needs you, with the reason. The pieces already made are kept.

"We could not start the build." The build did not begin. Wait a moment and press Build my business again.

A digital file was added switched off, with no file attached. The build makes the download as a place to fill in, with no file and no price. Open Products › Digital assets, turn on Show inactive, and click the download. In The file card, press Attach file and choose the file. In Details and price, choose One-time payment, enter the Price (USD) and press Save. Then, back in the list, choose Reactivate from its three-dot menu (…).
