Add, order and publish funnel steps
Add a page to a funnel, move it up or down, publish or unpublish it, and see what visitors have sent.
Each step of a funnel is a real page with its own address and its own numbers. You manage them on the funnel's own page: add a step, put it in the right place, publish it when it is ready, and see the replies it collects.
Before you start
- A funnel. See Create a funnel.
Steps: open a funnel
- Open Sites › Funnels and click the funnel's name.
- The page shows the funnel's industry, type and status (Published · 3 pages, or Not published), the Channels and Results cards, the Address card, Funnel steps and Submissions.
Steps: add a step
- Under Funnel steps, press Add a step.
- Pick the kind of page. Each one says what it is for, with an example from your trade: Sign-up page, Sales page, Checkout, Booking page, Application page or Upsell.
- The step is added before your thank-you page, and the editor opens on it. If the funnel had no thank-you page, one is added after it.
- Edit the page. If the funnel is already live, the new step is published straight away, so its buttons never lead to a missing page; unpublish it until it is ready if you prefer. In a funnel with nothing published, it starts as a draft.
Steps: publish, move or delete a step
- On the step's row, open the three-dot menu (…).
- Choose Publish to put it live, or Unpublish to take it offline at once without losing anything. The row shows Published or Draft.
- Choose Move up or Move down to change the order. Visitors go through the steps in this order.
- Choose Delete step to remove it, and confirm. You cannot delete a funnel's only step.
You can also publish from inside the editor with the Publish button; it then reads Live — click to unpublish.
What happens next
- A published step has a View live link on its row that opens the page at the address visitors use.
- On a sales page, checkout or upsell step, Sell something here attaches the product the page sells. See Sell a product on a funnel page.
- Submissions shows the latest form replies on the funnel, with View contact beside each, and the total.
- Edit funnel at the top opens the first step in the editor.
Things to know
- Deleting a step keeps its form replies, but they no longer say which page they came from.
- A new step's page title starts as the funnel's name. Change it under Search settings in the editor. See Set how a page appears in search results.
- The thank-you page is always last. Upsells shown after a thank-you page sell poorly, so new steps are placed before it.
For agencies
Manage steps inside the client with Sub-accounts › Open.
Troubleshooting
"This is the only published page on a live funnel. Deleting it will take the whole funnel offline." Unpublish it instead, or publish another step first.
"This step has 4 submissions linked to it." Deleting it keeps the replies but loses the link back to the page. Unpublish it if you might want that link.
View live is missing on a step. The step is a draft. Publish it. If the funnel sits on your own domain, the link appears once that domain is live.
"That step is already at the end." You tried to move the first step up or the last step down.
Visitors land on the wrong page first. The first published step is what visitors see at the funnel's address. Move the page you want to the top.
