Your customer account page (Client Portal)

Find the address of the page where your customers sign in to see their orders and what they bought, and point people to it.

Every site has a customer page at /account. A customer enters the email they ordered with, gets a sign-in link, and sees their orders, whether each has gone out, the tracking, and the courses, downloads and memberships they own. There is nothing to switch on or set up: it is already live. Sites › Client Portal tells you its address for each of your shops.

Before you start

  • A store. The portal list shows sites that sell; a site that takes no orders has nothing for a customer to sign in and see.

Steps

  1. Open Sites and choose the Client Portal tab.
  2. Find your shop in the list. Beside it is the address of its customer page, for example candles.example.com/account.
  3. Click the address to open it in a new tab and see what customers see.
  4. Put the address where customers will look for it: your site's menu, your email signature, a printed insert in each parcel. To add it to a website's menu, see Create and manage a website.

What happens next

  • Customers rarely need to find the page themselves: the Order confirmation and Order shipped emails already carry the link.
  • A customer signs in with a link emailed to them, which works once and lasts 30 minutes, or with a password if they have set one in the account's Settings.
  • What they see depends on what they bought. See What your customers see in their account.
  • The page wears your logo and business name, on your own site address.

For white-label agencies

The account page and its sign-in emails carry the client's own branding and address. The platform's name does not appear anywhere a customer can see.

For clients of an agency

Your customers see your logo and business name on the account page, and the emails link to your own site.

Troubleshooting

The tab says "No shops yet". You have no store. The account page appears in this list once a site sells something.

A shop says "No address yet — publish the site first". None of the store's pages is published, so the page has no address to open yet.

A customer can't sign in. The sign-in link is only sent to an address that has ordered from you, and it expires after 30 minutes. See Fix buyers who cannot get into what they bought.

The address shows my free address, not my own domain. The store is still on your free address, or its domain is not live yet. See Choose where a site lives.
