Add a physical product to your store

Things you post, such as candles, prints or clothing, are made from a store. Creating one there adds it to your catalogue and stocks it on that store's shelf at the same time. The same form also makes a service, a download or a membership, though downloads and memberships are better made under Products, where you can attach the file or choose what the membership unlocks. A membership sold from a store renews like one sold from a funnel page, as long as the shopper pays for it on its own.

Before you start

• A store. See Open a store.
• The product's name, price and a photograph. A photograph goes in as a web address (starting https://), so upload it somewhere first, or add pictures with More pictures, which uploads from your computer.

Steps

1. Open Sites › Stores, press Open store, and choose the Products tab.
2. Press New product (or Add your first product if the catalogue is empty). The New product form opens.
3. Under What are you selling?, choose Something you post. The other choices are A download, A service and A membership.
4. Type the Name, for example "Fig & Cedar candle, 200g".
5. Paste the main picture's address into Photograph. A small preview appears beside it.
6. Add more pictures under More pictures with the + tile. You can pick up to eight at once, and a product can have twelve.
7. Under Options, add ways it can be chosen, such as "Size" with "Small, Large". See Product options, pictures and stock.
8. Enter the Price. If it is on sale, put the old price in Was; the shelf shows it struck through.
9. Choose or type Categories, so shoppers can filter by them.
10. Write One line for the shelf (shown under the name on the shelf) and The full description (shown on the product's page).
11. For something you post, fill in SKU, In stock and Weight (g) if you use them.
12. Press Add to shop. You see "added and stocked", and the product is at the end of On the shelf.

Steps: change or copy a product

1. In the store's Products tab, press the pencil icon (Edit) on the product. The form opens as Edit product.
2. Change what you need and press Save changes. Changes reach every store and funnel that sells it.
3. To add a similar product, such as another scent, press the copy icon (Duplicate). The copy opens as Duplicate product with " copy" added to the name, and with SKU and In stock empty. Press Create the copy.

What happens next

• The product is on this store's shelf. To sell it in another store, open that store's Products tab and press Stock it beside it under In your catalogue.
• Use the up and down arrows under On the shelf to set the order; it is the order shoppers see. Take off removes it from this shelf without deleting it.
• The store's currency and symbol, set in the store's Settings tab, are used for the price.

For agencies

Build the catalogue inside the client's account with Sub-accounts › Open.

Troubleshooting

"Give the product a price." Every product in the form needs a price. Enter one, even if it is on sale.

The photograph does not show. Photograph takes a web address, not a file. Check it starts with https:// and opens in your browser, or use More pictures to upload from your computer.

"Your plan's product limit is reached." Your plan allows no more products. Deactivate one you no longer sell, or change your plan.

Shoppers can't pick a size or colour. Options only show on the product page once Sell things in more than one colour or size is ticked in the store's Settings tab.

I changed the name, but the product's web address did not change. That is on purpose. A product keeps its address when renamed, so links you have shared keep working.
