Design certificates and badges
Make certificate and badge designs once, from a description or from one of the ready-made designs, and use them on any course.
A certificate is a sheet a student prints and keeps when they finish a course. A badge is a small mark for a milestone along the way. You design them under Products › Certificates, once, and every course can use them.
Before you start
- Your logo set in your account, if you want it on the certificate.
- The name of the person who signs, if you want a signature line. For example, a fitness coach signs as herself, with the role "Head coach".
Steps: describe it and have it designed
- Open Products and choose the Certificates tab.
- In the Credential AI box, describe what it is for, for example "A certificate for completing an eight-week strength course — bold and modern". Or press one of the starters: Course completion, Milestone achieved, Event participation or Training completed.
- To make a badge instead, mention "badge" in the description.
- Press Design it. The new design opens in the editor. Nothing is used until you approve it.
Steps: start from a design
- On the Templates tab, press Create and choose Create certificate or Create badge.
- Choose From scratch and type a name, or From a design and press to pick one. Certificates come in eight designs: Imperial, Classic, Midnight, Laurel, Rose, Azure, Modern and Minimal. Badges have their own set, such as Gold crest and Teal ribbon.
- Press Create. The editor opens.
Steps: finish the design in the editor
- Under Design, change the design if you like.
- Under Words, write what it says. On a badge, type its name in What it is for; two or three words is best. On a certificate, put in fields that fill themselves when it is awarded:
{{name}}(the student's name),{{course}},{{business}},{{instructor}},{{date}}and{{reference}}. Press a field to copy it. Standard wording puts the wording back. - Under Details, choose when it Expires (Never expires, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years or 5 years), whether to Show your logo, and the Ornament colour.
- Choose a Frame, from None to Ornate, and the paper colour under Background.
- Under Signature, fill in Signed by and Their role. Leave Signed by blank for no signature.
- The editor saves as you go and says Saved.
What happens next
- The design is on the Templates tab, as a card or in a list (switch with the Cards and List buttons).
- Choose it for a course on the course's Certificate and badges card. See Award certificates and badges.
- The student's name on the preview is a stand-in. The real name comes from the award.
- Issued certificates and Issued badges list every award you have made.
For agencies
Designs belong to each client's account. Create them inside the client with Sub-accounts › Open, so the certificate carries the client's business name and logo.
For clients of an agency
Certificates are signed with your business name and logo, never the platform's.
Troubleshooting
"Couldn't design one just now." The design could not be made at that moment. Wait a little and press Design it again, or start from a design with Create.
The editor says "Could not save". Your last change was not stored. Check your connection and make the change again.
I deleted a design that a course was using. That course goes back to its own settings for the certificate. Choose another design on the course's Certificate and badges card.
My logo is not on the certificate. Tick Show your logo under Details, and check that a logo is set for your account.
