How products work
The kinds of product you can sell, where each one is made, and how to rename, deactivate or delete one.
Everything you sell lives in one catalogue for your whole account. A product has a name, a price, how it is billed, and what the buyer gets. The same product can be stocked in a store and sold on a funnel page, and it stays one product with one price.
The kinds of product
| Kind | What the buyer gets | Where you make it |
|---|---|---|
| Something you post | A physical item, packed and sent | A store's Products tab, New product |
| A download | A file, sent as a link after payment | Products › Digital assets, Create New |
| A service | Work you do for them | A store's Products tab, New product |
| Online course | Modules and lessons they work through | Products › Courses, Create New |
| Membership | Ongoing access to courses, downloads, pages and blogs, billed monthly or yearly | Products › Memberships, Create New |
Most products are paid once (One-time). A membership is recurring and shows Every month or Every year in the Billing column.
Before you start
-
Stripe connected under Settings › Payments, so what you make can be sold.
-
On the Free plan you can have one product. Paid plans have no limit.
Steps: find and manage your products
- Open Products. The tabs are Digital assets, Courses, Memberships and Certificates.
- Choose a tab. Each row shows Name, Price, Billing, Funnels, Created and Status. Under the name you see which funnel steps sell it, or "Not attached to any funnel".
- Click a product to open it. Details and price lets you change the Name, Description and Price, then press Save.
- To rename a product quickly, open its three-dot menu (…) in the list and choose Rename.
- To stop new sales without taking anything away from existing customers, choose Deactivate. It moves out of the default list; turn on Show inactive to see it, and choose Reactivate to sell it again.
- To remove a product with no sales, choose Delete and confirm. This cannot be undone.
Physical products and services do not appear on the Products tabs. Find and edit them in a store's Products tab. See Add a physical product.
Things to know
- How long they keep it (on courses and downloads) sets how many days access lasts, counted from the day they buy. Leave it empty and access lasts for ever. Shortening it applies to everybody, including people who have already bought.
- Changing a price does not change what anybody has already paid.
- Price Free is a real choice for a course or download. A product with no price at all shows "No price yet - can't be sold in a funnel" in the list.
- Archived products are hidden unless you turn on Show archived.
For agencies
Products belong to each client's account. Work on them inside the client with Sub-accounts › Open. Copying a funnel, website or store to a client does not copy your products.
Troubleshooting
"This product has sales" when I try to delete it. Orders refer to it, so it cannot be deleted. Press Deactivate instead: it stops new sales and existing customers keep access.
The delete dialog warns that funnel steps reference it. Pages in the product's own funnel sell it. Deleting it can stop those pages selling correctly. Attach a different product to them first.
"Couldn't create this product" or "Your plan's product limit is reached". You have reached your plan's product allowance. Deactivate or delete one you no longer sell, or change your plan.
A product is missing from the list. It may be inactive or archived. Turn on Show inactive and Show archived. Physical products and services are listed in stores, not here.
