Connect an ad account and boost a post

Link the ad account the network charges, then put money behind a post that already did well.

Boosting a post is the quickest ad there is: you take something that already went out and people liked, and pay the network to show it to more people. First you connect the ad account the network bills. After that, boosting takes a minute.

You can connect Facebook & Instagram ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads and LinkedIn Ads.

Before you start

  • The owner or admin role.
  • An ad account on the network, with a payment method set up there. The network charges it directly; nothing is taken from your wallet and there is no fee on your spend.
  • A published post. See Write and schedule social posts.

  • A paid plan.

Steps

Connect your ad account

  1. Go to Marketing › Ads and stay on the Campaigns tab.
  2. Under Ad accounts, find the network and click + Connect.
  3. Sign in to the network and choose the ad account you advertise from.
  4. You come back to the Ads tab and a message says "Ad account connected." To add a second account on the same network, click Add another.

Boost a post

  1. On Marketing › Ads, click Boost post. (You can also click Boost on a published post on the Social › Posts tab.)
  2. Under Boost a post, choose Good to promote to see only posts that clearly beat your average, or All posts.
  3. Click a post. How this post did shows its numbers. Click Boost this post.
  4. Choose the Ad account.
  5. Set the Daily budget and For how many days. For example, a candle shop might spend 10 a day for 5 days on its best autumn post.
  6. Under Who should see it, fill in any of Where (towns or cities, separated by commas), Within (km), Age from and to, and Interested in, such as "candles, home fragrance". Leave anything empty to reach everyone.
  7. Click Boost. A message says "Boost created."

What happens next

  • The boost appears in the Campaigns list as Boosted post. While the network checks it, the line under it reads "Waiting for the network to approve it". Once approved it shows Running.
  • Your ads shows the totals across every ad: Spent, Seen, Clicks and Results. Each ad also shows its own CTR.
  • Spend and results are fetched from the network once a day. Click Refresh to fetch them now.
  • On any running ad you can Pause, Resume or Edit budget.

For agencies

Ad accounts are connected per account. Open the client with Sub-accounts › Open and connect the client's own ad account, so the network bills the client.

Troubleshooting

The boost form says "Connect an ad account first — it is the account the network charges." No ad account is connected yet. Connect one under Ad accounts on the Campaigns tab.

It says "Nothing to boost yet — a post has to have gone out first." Only published posts can be boosted. Publish a post, and give it a day to collect numbers.

Good to promote is empty. None of your posts has clearly beaten your average yet. Give the newest ones a day, or choose All posts.

The boost shows "Not approved" or "Did not start". The network refused it. The line under the ad gives the network's reason after the dash. Common causes are no payment method on the ad account, an account still in review, or a post that breaks the network's ad rules. Fix it on the network, then boost again.

There is no Boost button on a post. Boost only appears on posts that are published and still up on the network.

It says "Connecting accounts isn't included on this plan." Ads need a paid plan. Upgrade under Settings › Billing & wallet.
