Write and schedule social posts
Write one post, add a picture and a link, and send it to several networks now, at a set time, or through a queue.
The Planner is where you write posts. One post can go to every account you choose at once, with a picture and a link back to your site. You can post it now, pick a date and time, or drop it into a queue that picks the time for you.
Before you start
- At least one social account connected. See Connect your social media accounts.
- The owner or admin role in your account.
- Credit in your wallet if you want pictures drawn for you.
Steps
- Go to Marketing › Social and open the Planner tab. (On the Posts tab, Create post brings you here too.)
- Optional: have the words written. Type one line about the post into Write it for me, for example "New autumn candle collection in the shop from Friday", and click Write it. Choose the accounts under Post to first, so each network gets words that fit it. Click Use this one on the version you like. It never invents a price, an offer or an opening time.
- Write or edit the post in What do you want to say?
- Add a picture under Start with a picture: - Upload a picture to use your own photo, or Add a video. - Draw a picture to have one made: say what the post is for and how many to try, then tap the one you want and click Use in post. The price is shown on the button that draws them and comes from your wallet. - Click Add words on a picture to put a headline on it. What goes out is one flat picture with the words already in it. - For a text-only post, click Just words.
- Under Post to, click each account the post should go to.
- Optional: open Customise per network to give one account different words, for example a longer version for LinkedIn. Leave a box empty to use the main post.
- Optional: paste a web address into Link back, then choose Where it goes: - First comment: the link is posted as the first comment, which keeps the post's reach on Facebook and Instagram. - In the post: the link goes in the caption. - No link.
- Choose when: - Leave When empty to post straight away. - Pick a date and time in When to schedule it. - Or pick a queue in Or a queue. It takes the queue's next free slot.
- Click Post now, Schedule or Add to queue. The button changes to match your choice.
What happens next
- The post appears under Scheduled and posted at the bottom of the Planner, and on the Posts tab with its status: Draft, Scheduled, Published or Failed.
- A scheduled post goes out on its own at that time.
- About a day after it is published, its numbers (reach, engagement, clicks, comments and shares) start to appear on the post.
Troubleshooting
The Planner says "Connect an account first". You have no connected social accounts. Click Connect an account and follow the steps.
It says "Choose at least one account above." Click at least one account under Post to before posting.
The link went in the post, not the first comment. None of the accounts you chose takes comments, so the link goes in the post instead. The Planner tells you when this will happen.
It says "That post didn't go out." The network refused it. Open the Posts tab: a failed post shows the reason under it, and the three dots offer Retry. The usual causes are an account that needs connecting again or a picture the network will not accept.
Drawing a picture says "That batch didn't finish." Nothing was taken from your wallet. Try again, or upload a picture instead.
Write it for me is greyed out. Type a line into the box and choose at least one account under Post to first.
